Moms’ Night Out
Come join the fun! Our nights out are dedicated to enjoying some "grown-up time" for Moms only. Past outings have included pottery painting, a murder mystery party, game night, fondue party, movie night and an a comedy club.
All members are encouraged to attend our annual social events which include a Holiday Party, Mother's Day Party, Picnic, and Halloween Party. The Holiday Party gives our members the chance to meet in a nice restaurant and relax to a delicious meal along with our grab bag event. Our Mother's Day Party gives us the chance to celebrate and honor each other as mothers. We usually get together at a spa or a nice brunch or dinner out. These two celebrations are designed to provide the pampering that we deserve.
Our summer picnics give everyone the chance to come on out and enjoy the good weather along with our entire families. The Halloween Party is a great way to let our little ones dress up and partake of the season. These two events are designed for the entire family and have been held in the past at a Kane County Cougar game, Brookfield Zoo, DuPage Children's Museum, and Blackberry Farm.
The DuPage Area Moms Book Club usually meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm. All members of DuPage Area Moms, and their nursing infants, are welcome to attend as many meetings as their schedules allow. The books for the year are selected each fall and represent a wide variety of interests.
Playgroups are a great way for moms and their tots to mingle. Our group includes stay-at-home moms, as well as moms who work part-time. Members are invited to host a playgroup, either in their home or at a nearby location, such as a park or an indoor play center. Aside from the hostess providing a few snacks, there is no cost to participate.
We rotate our play dates to accommodate different schedules. While most play dates are in the morning, there is some interest for an afternoon play date and that is something we are striving to create.
We currently have one large playgroup, but average 3 to 7 moms and tots per event. We try to meet on a weekly basis.
Our playgroups are a great way to get out of the house for a morning and meet up with friends. It is so refreshing to meet with moms, going through many of the same childhood milestones (from potty training to coping with fussy eating habits) and share stories for how to manage. Our tots form friendships too. The varying ages of children provides a great opportunity for the children to socialize with peers.
Because most playgroups take place in members’ homes, we have a secure webpage for the play date calendar only available to members of DuPage Area Moms. For access to the playgroup calendar or to drop in to a play date and see what it’s all about, please contact us.
Mom & Tot Outings
All members are invited to attend one or two outings per month with their tots! Our Mom and Tot Outings is our vehicle to seeing what DuPage County has to offer. All the best places to take kids are visited. Past activities include: a spray park, gymnastics, Chuck E Cheese, SciTech, Cosley Zoo, plus tours of such facilities as Danada Equestrian Center, Krispy Kreme and a fire station.
We also have a “playgroup” for moms only (non-mobile infants may come as well)! Seasoned Moms meets twice monthly during the school day. We welcome all moms no matter what the ages of their children, so you can come whether your children are at college, elementary school, preschool, a play date or with a babysitter! Because we know everyone’s schedule is different, we try to vary days of the week and alternate between morning and early afternoon outings.
Recent outings have included lunch at a member’s home, coffee at a local coffee shop, a stroll through the gardens at Cantigny, and lunch followed by a walk at the Morton Arboretum. Our discussions have ranged from “My plans for the school year” to “Fostering Children’s Independence”.
Want to get in on what's happening in DuPage Area Moms? Members can join our Email Loops. Our loops are a great way to stay connected to fellow members electronically. Lots of the monthly events and activities are highlighted on the DuPage Area Moms Email Loops. You can find advice on what stroller to buy or what park to play at or how to handle an unreasonable two-year-old are great topics for our discussion loop. The discussion loop is our forum for discussing issues and happenings plus fielding mommy-type questions. Additionally, we have an 'information only' email loop. Every member with an email address will be on the 'information only' list to receive chapter news (meeting changes/cancellations, etc.) in a timely manner.
Note: solicitations, politicking, chain letters, spam, etc. are not allowed on either of our loops.
Members wanting more information can check out our own newsletter called the Local Page which is emailed monthly to all current members and details upcoming activities and events.
